Once again Culver City High School athletes and coaches competed at an elite level during the 2023-2024 athletic season. Gifted athletes make coaches look good and outstanding coaches make athletes look. It’s a two-way street that meets at the fork in the road.

In the past 60 years, the high school has been fortunate enough to have student athletes and coaches that are some of the bests in the state. This year is no exception. Morgan Maddox was remarkable on the track and Evan Reiter was spectacular on the pitchers mound. Not only were Maddox and Reiter great teammates, they also led by example

They were coached by two of the best in the state.

Devaughn Wallace guided the baseball team to a 25-5 overall record and 7-3 first place Bay league record and co-head track and field coach LaShinda Demus along with co-head coach Jahmal Wright were the motivating forces on the track.

Reiter was exceptional as a pitcher for the Centaurs posting a 7-1 record while also batting .372. The 6’1, 180-pound senior scored 19 runs, had 29 hits that included five doubles and two triples with 13 runs batted in.  He was named to the Division 4 All-CIF team this week. The Most Valuable Player in the Bay League helped the Centaurs go from last to first in one year in league play.
